Spiraea x (billardii )

This is a rather coarse shrub when not in bloom, but when in full flower, it is rather attractive. The stems are very erect and are tipped in a conical arrangement of rose-purple flowers all summer. Overall, the plant looks like a refined Spirea latifolia, the North American native Meadowsweet.
